How to check Gemini and Nano Banana provenance: Google’s official verification for SynthID versus AI Watermark Center’s local Content Credentials inspection. We do not detect SynthID.

There is no AI Watermark Center SynthID detector. AI Watermark Center does not currently detect SynthID. Checking a Gemini or Nano Banana image means using Google’s tools for SynthID, and using this site only for supported embedded Content Credentials.

Google verification

Signed-in Gemini Apps users can upload one image, video, or audio file (size and duration limits apply) and ask whether Google AI created or edited it. Gemini Help lists SynthID and Content Credentials as two technologies in that flow. Gemini’s current media verifier identifies Google AI SynthID. It is not a universal SynthID detector for other companies.

If SynthID is detected, Help says all or part of the image or video was created or edited by Google AI. If it is not detected, Help says the file may still have been created by another AI system. Uncertain results can happen for simple content or small edits.

Google DeepMind’s separate SynthID Detector portal remains an early-tester waitlist as of 16 August 2026. That is not the same product surface as signed-in Gemini Apps verification.

A result from Google’s verifier is a provider-verified result, not an independently generated AI Watermark Center detection.

AI Watermark Center

This site inspects supported embedded C2PA in JPEG, PNG, and WebP in the browser. It does not upload your image to Google. It does not detect SynthID. Do not label the inspector “Detect SynthID.”
