Adobe Firefly Content Credentials
Fields Adobe documents for Firefly Content Credentials, embedded versus cloud-recoverable credentials, and how Adobe Inspect differs from local AWC inspection.

Short answer
Adobe Firefly Content Credentials are C2PA provenance records Adobe documents as automatically applied when 100% of an asset’s pixels are generated with Firefly. Firefly Help lists non-personal fields that are always included in that automatic case: issuer (Adobe Inc.), issue date, application or device, AI tool used, and actions such as Created or Other edits. Credentials may be embedded in the file and may also be stored in Adobe’s public Content Credentials cloud. Adobe Inspect is Adobe’s official viewer and recovery path. AI Watermark Center reads embedded credentials in JPEG, PNG, and WebP in the browser — it does not call Adobe’s cloud and is not a substitute for Adobe Inspect.
Fields Adobe documents
- Issuer: Adobe Inc.
- Issue date
- Application or device used
- AI tool used
- Actions (for example Created or Other edits)
Additional identity fields appear only if a person opted to include them in other Adobe tools — not as a default Firefly automatic payload in the Help overview.
Embedded versus cloud-recoverable
Adobe says credentials are attached to their files and may also be stored in Adobe’s public cloud. If a downstream tool strips embedded metadata but cloud recovery remains possible, Adobe Inspect may still recover credentials where supported. AWC never performs that cloud lookup.
Adobe Inspect versus AWC
Adobe Inspect is the official Adobe Content Authenticity inspection experience. AWC’s inspector is a local, privacy-oriented reader for supported still-image formats. Finding credentials here is not an Adobe authenticity score and does not enable trust-list verification in the current product.
Limitations
- No SVG/HEIC/TIFF inspection in the current AWC tool.
- No Adobe cloud recovery.
- Scope is fully generated Firefly assets as Adobe documents — not every mixed edit.
