Short answer
The Sora visible watermark is an on-screen disclosure OpenAI documented for generated video so viewers can see that the clip is AI-generated. It is not C2PA Content Credentials and it is not OpenAI’s internal provenance or reverse-media tracing. Searches for “remove Sora watermark” usually collapse those three ideas. Conceptually: hiding or cropping a visible mark does not equal stripping signed metadata, and neither equals defeating internal tracing. This page is conceptual only. It does not provide removal, crop, inpaint, or evasion instructions. OpenAI notes the Sora product is no longer available as of 26 April 2026 — historical documentation.

- Visible mark — pixels or overlays people can see while watching.
- C2PA — signed metadata that may travel with the file when intact (Sora C2PA).
- Internal provenance — OpenAI-operated tracing described in safety materials; not an AWC feature.
